IMPORTANT ROADWORKS INFORMATION – A27 Kingston Road bridge

A27 Kingston Road bridge – overnight closures for repairs and maintenance

Monday 4 to Friday 22 September 2023

We’ll soon be carrying out repairs and maintenance to the bridge that carries the Kingston Road over the A27 between Kingston and Lewes. This includes repairs to the bridge, replacing expansion joints, resurfacing and waterproofing. This work is critical to maintaining and improving safety.

To minimise disruption we’ll work on weeknights between the hours of 8pm and 6am only, when there are fewer vehicles on the road. During the day the bridge will be open as usual.

Closure information

The Kingston Road bridge, where it passes over the A27 between Kingston and Lewes, will be closed from 8pm Monday 4 September to 6am Tuesday 5 September for survey work.

The bridge will then be closed from Monday 18 September to Friday 22 September, between 8pm and 6am each night.

A signed diversion will be in place via A277, Ashcombe Hollow, Ashcombe Lane and Wellgreen Lane.

Access will be maintained to properties on both sides of the bridge. No vehicles will be able to cross the bridge during the closures, so please make sure you plan your route to your property from the right direction.

Please note that these works are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances, such as weather.
