27/06/2020 - Bus Services Update

 

Over the past months a reduced level of bus and community transport dial a ride provision has continued to cater for the needs of local residents who rely on them, including key workers. The number of bus users remains very low but is starting to grow as lock-down restrictions reduce.

 

From 29 June more bus services will restart. These include most services provided by Compass Travel in the west of the county, though some to limited timetables or running on fewer days of the week. From the same date there are changes to Stagecoach services in the Hastings and Eastbourne areas, as well as to Autocarís routes in the Wadhurst area. The latest information on these and other bus service changes continues to be provided on our website pages. The situation is changing frequently so please check these pages regularly.

At the moment older persons and disabled persons free travel bus passes are still being accepted at all times for travel in East Sussex. This is to assist holders to access food shopping and services.

 

Government advice is not to use public transport unless necessary. Every bus now has a reduced capacity so as to maintain social distancing requirements. Included on our website pages are important details about the regulation for bus passengers to use face coverings, unless they are exempted from doing so.

 

Attached is a notice designed for public display so that communities can find updates to the latest bus information. It replaces the notice provided on 23 March relating to Compass Travel services. We are grateful to Parish and Town Council colleagues who have been assisting with the dissemination of information during these difficult times.

08/07/2020 - Meeting of Kingston Parish Council

 

On 4 April 2020, the government brought The Local Authorities (Coronavirus) (Fexibility of

Local Authority Meetings) (England) Regulations 2020 into force to allow local authorities to

conduct meetings remotely.

 

Taking those provisions into account, Kingston Parish Council will hold its 8 July 2020 meeting virtually. Agenda and meeting papers with full details will be available on Friday 3 July 2020.

Just over a mile away from the town of Lewes and nestling at the foot of the Sussex Downs, Kingston is protected on its northern and western sides by high ranges of hills.

 

Many of the older houses are in the original village centre "The Street", with an interesting and picturesque mix of cottages and larger farmhouses as well as the local 14th Century pub The Juggs and St Pancras Church.

 

The village offers a number of recreational facilities through its two greens, parish hall and community pavilion as well as being an ideal base for walkers and cyclists to explore the beautiful South Downs and surrounding areas.
