Over the past months a reduced level of bus and community transport dial a ride provision has continued to cater for the needs of local residents who rely on them, including key workers. The number of bus users remains very low but is starting to grow as lock-down restrictions reduce.

From 29 June more bus services will restart. These include most services provided by Compass Travel in the west of the county, though some to limited timetables or running on fewer days of the week. From the same date there are changes to Stagecoach services in the Hastings and Eastbourne areas, as well as to Autocarís routes in the Wadhurst area. At the moment older persons and disabled persons free travel bus passes are still being accepted at all times for travel in East Sussex. This is to assist holders to access food shopping and services.

Government advice is not to use public transport unless necessary. Every bus now has a reduced capacity so as to maintain social distancing requirements. Included on our website pages are important details about the regulation for bus passengers to use face coverings, unless they are exempted from doing so.

Just over a mile away from the town of Lewes and nestling at the foot of the Sussex Downs, Kingston is protected on its northern and western sides by high ranges of hills.

Many of the older houses are in the original village centre "The Street", with an interesting and picturesque mix of cottages and larger farmhouses as well as the local 14th Century pub The Juggs and St Pancras Church.

The village offers a number of recreational facilities through its two greens, parish hall and community pavilion as well as being an ideal base for walkers and cyclists to explore the beautiful South Downs and surrounding areas.
